Şanlıurfa, which attracts the attention of the whole world with its historical, touristic and cultural values, has become the center of attention of the world with Karahantepe and Stone Hills, which were unearthed in archaeological excavations after Göbeklitepe changed the course of history.
Following the determination of 2019 as the "Year of Göbeklitepe" by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the tourism activity experienced in the city reflected positively on the number of accommodation and visitors. Şanlıurfa, as the “Islamic World Tourism Capital” in 2023, has increased its tourism target.
Preparations have been completed under the coordination of Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality and Şanlıurfa Governor's Office in order to increase the diversity of tourism in Şanlıurfa and to allow local and foreign guests to visit the city more comfortably.
Noting that Şanlıurfa has many historical and touristic areas to be discovered, Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeynel Abidin Beyazgül pointed out that the mystery of Karahantepe should be solved in 2023.
President Beyazgül said, “Karahantepe is a place where new mysteries and new secrets are revealed. Karahantepe contains some mysteries and secrets. When we look at Karahantepe, we see works of art like those in Göbeklitepe. We also see architecture and engineering in the findings here. When we look at Karahantepe and compare it with Stonehenge, Stonehenge was 5 years after Göbeklitepe and Karahantepe. Humanity needs to uncover the hills in Karahantepe in Şanlıurfa and solve the existing mystery as soon as possible. We wonder what was done 12 thousand years ago. We have clues. In order for the whole world to solve this mystery in 2023, they need to spend their energies on Şanlıurfa. Of course, it is important to visit in terms of tourism. However, there is one more important thing and that is to solve the mystery here. This is very important for the whole world.” He made his statements.
