“Industrial exports exceeded 10 billion dollars, agricultural exports are running to 7 billion dollars”

Aegean Exporters' Unions Coordinator President Jak Eskinazi said, “In 2022, 12 of our 9 Exporters' Associations within the EIB increased their exports. While our industrial sectors contributed 8 billion 10 million dollars to EIB's exports with an increase of 359 percent, and our agricultural sectors contributed 17 billion 6 million dollars with an increase of 727 percent, the exports of our mining sector increased by 11 percent to 1 billion 207 million dollars. Our ferrous and non-ferrous metals industry has exceeded 2 billion dollars. The chemical industry, which exceeds another 2 billion dollars, has once again demonstrated that it should be represented within the EIB with its export figures. Our 6 sectors have exceeded 1 billion dollars.” said.

Emphasizing that two Free Zones made İzmir the second largest exporting province, Eskinazi said, “Today, 13 provinces in Turkey are exporting more than 3 billion dollars. Our two Free Zones have surpassed 3 provinces with an export figure of 28 billion 68 million dollars. In 2022, we gained two new free zones with Menemen and Bergama. With 4 free zones, we will further strengthen our position as Turkey's most exporting Zone.” he said.

Jak Eskinazi said, “While we exported to 2022 countries and regions in 218, we increased our exports to 123 markets. Germany is among the top three countries in our exports with an increase of 8 percent to 1,9 billion dollars, the USA an increase of 13 percent to 1,4 billion dollars, and Italy an increase of 4 percent to 1 billion dollars. The year 2022 was both a turning point for the global economy due to the war between Ukraine and Russia, the energy crisis, the possibility of recession, and economic uncertainty, and a year in which the economic crisis settled in the center of Turkey. Despite this, we reached our export target of 2022 billion dollars, which we set for 18 as Aegean Exporters' Associations, in July. If this environment does not change, even maintaining the current export figures in 2023 will be a success. We consider a decline in export figures as inevitable.” he concluded his speech.
