Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Birol Güven Cinema and Television Academy, which started in March with the aim of raising new actors, screenwriters, writers, directors and artists from Bursa to the world of TV series, cinema and television, is breaking new ground with the 'Metaverse in Cinema' trainings. Metropolitan Mayor Alinur Aktaş, who was a guest of the workshop where the technologies of the era were adapted to the sector, visited the Louvre Museum in Paris from where he was sitting, wearing VR glasses.

While a digital mobilization was announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Forum Metaverse held in Ankara in March, Bursa Metropolitan Municipality also participated in this mobilization with Metaverse in Cinema trainings. Continuing for about a month in Bursa, Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Birol Güven Cinema and Television Academy included metaverse trainings. Young people who are candidates to become new actors, screenwriters and directors of the world of cinema and television are better equipped for the world of the future with their metaverse training. After Birol Güven's workshop on “What is Metaverse and What It Is Not” at the Cinema and Television Academy last week, Artificial Intelligence Specialist Associate Prof. Dr. Şebnem Özdemir gave training on the concept of Metaverse in Cinema. In addition to the students, the Metropolitan Mayor Alinur Aktaş and the famous producer Birol Güven also attended the training at the Atatürk Congress and Culture Center. Before the training, Metropolitan Mayor Aktaş had a VR glasses experience. President Aktaş, wearing glasses, visited the famous Louvre museum in Paris from where he was sitting, and especially closely examined Leonardo Davinci's painting Monalisa.

We will be the first institution

Speaking before the training, Metropolitan Mayor Alinur Aktaş reminded that they added the metaverse training, which is defined as the 'internet of the future' or 'the new version of the internet', to the cinema and television academy that has been going on for a month. Expressing that they are trying to predict the developments in this sector by evaluating the future of cinema, President Aktaş said, “We are preparing the young people of Bursa for the future. Last week, Mr. Birol held a workshop on 'What is Metaverse, What Is It Not'. Today, we have another workshop as a continuation of that workshop. Artificial Intelligence Specialist Associate Professor Şebnem Özdemir will explain the concept of Metaverse in cinema. In the coming weeks, we will continue the metaverse workshops and, in addition to our basic training, we will also give Cinema and Metaverse participation certificates to our participating friends. We will give this document as NFT. We will be the first institution in Turkey to issue the certificate of participation as NFT. This kind of education is not found anywhere else in Turkey. I would like to underline that we have achieved a first. Cinema education is available everywhere, but only we have new generation trainings such as Metaverse and Cinema training, motion capture acting training. We also had a VR glasses experience here today. We put on our glasses and visited the famous Louvre museum in Paris. In particular, we examined Leonardo Davinci's Monalisa painting. It was really impressive. Hopefully, we will bring these technologies to Bursa in the very near future. For example, wouldn't it be nice to have the digital twin of our Hacivat Karagöz museum, then to be visited by millions of people from all over the world with such glasses? Hopefully, we will introduce the ancient culture of our city to the whole world by making use of these technological developments.”

There is great potential

Famous producer Birol Güven stated that the metaverse has become the leading role of Turkey and the world and said that they are trying to adapt the trainings in Bursa to this quickly. Stating that they are trying to adapt to the new cinema and game industry in the world with additional seminars and workshops, Güven said, “The game industry is very important. There are important developments in terms of game production. Last year, a Turkish game company was bought by the American company for 1.8 billion dollars. There is great potential in this country. If we adapt to new technology, we have this potential. Perhaps the new contents of our age will come from you. By the way, I would like to thank our President for combining our experiences with the opportunities of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality”.

After the speeches, Artificial Intelligence Specialist Associate Professor Şebnem Özdemir explained the concept of Metaverse in cinema through movies shot from the past to the present.
