Silkworm Breeding is Sprouting from Eskişehir

Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality, which has distributed more than 2017 thousand mulberry saplings produced in its own facilities to farmers since 300 in order to improve silkworm breeding in Turkey, continues its efforts to produce mulberry saplings from 80 thousand steel this year.

Within the scope of rural development projects, Metropolitan Municipality, which was brought to life by the instruction of Metropolitan Mayor Yılmaz Büyükerşen and brought together more than 2017 thousand mulberry saplings with producers since 300, continues to produce mulberry saplings from steel without slowing down.

With the "Silk Insect Breeding Development Project", the farmers, who are going through difficult economic times, provide additional income, while they stay in production by taking advantage of the supports with the revival of cooperatives. While the work continues uninterruptedly at the steel mulberry sapling production facility in order to spread silkworm farming, the Metropolitan Municipality Agricultural Services Department teams intensified their work for the production of 80 thousand steel mulberry saplings this year.

Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality, which delivers mulberry saplings to all corners of Turkey such as Antalya, Muğla, Ordu and İzmit, will continue to support the producers in the new period.

Expressing that the work continues to be distributed in 2023, Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Büyükerşen said, “We have brought together hundreds of thousands of mulberry saplings with producers with our silk insect breeding development project. Moreover, we did this not only for our producers from Eskişehir, but also for producers all over Turkey. I think that with the work we do through Koza Birlik, we have given our producers a little bit of economic respite. On the one hand, our teams continue to produce mulberry saplings from steel in our own production facility. We are getting 80 thousand steel mulberry saplings ready for this year. We continue our efforts to revive silkworm breeding, which is one of Eskişehir's historical values, and to increase its production not only in Eskişehir but also all over Turkey. I wish that the seedlings that have already grown will be abundant and provide good income to our producers. ” he said.
