Bursa Metropolitan Municipality has made the City Square more modern and comfortable with a comprehensive study 'from ground renewal and arrangement to lighting systems, from infrastructure improvement to landscaping applications'.

The Metropolitan Municipality, which demolished and removed 67 unplanned buildings on the area that was previously seen as a 'square' in the Implementation Zoning Plan and located to the east of the City Square, gave the area an aesthetic appearance. With the completion of the production of the City Square - Terminal tram line, the large-scale rehabilitation work started in the region was completed.

Erase rebuilt from scratch

City Square, which is one of the points where pedestrian mobility is intense in Bursa, has been made more comfortable by the Metropolitan Municipality. Within the scope of the project, the floor covering of the 12 square meter square area was made, and the entire infrastructure was renewed. The green areas in the square have been increased and the landscaped green area has been increased to 500 square meters. All electrical infrastructure lines were renewed for the environmental lighting of the square and lighting fixtures and pole elements were replaced. While the square was completely pedestrianized, with the fixed border elements placed along the tram line, it was ensured that all vehicles entering the square would use the tram line crossing route. While pedestrian safety was ensured, the exit of large tonnage vehicles was prevented. A new building, which includes an ATM and taxi stand, is being built for the Red Crescent Blood Center, which previously served in a truck in the City Square. Modern and aesthetic living-resting areas were created in the square by making urban furniture that will allow the citizens to rest comfortably and comfortably. The square, whose landscaping was completed by preserving all existing trees, was opened to use with its new face. The ongoing assembly works at the buffet, Kızılay building, fountain and stops are planned to be completed in a short time.

Both aesthetic and comfortable

Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş said that while bringing new projects to the city, they are making great efforts to make the worn-out urban fabric more comfortable and aesthetic. Expressing that the City Square, which hosts thousands of people every day, has significant wear and tear, especially on its floor, Mayor Aktaş said, “We have done a work that really suits Bursa, from the ground to the green areas, from the sitting groups to the lighting. Although we caused discomfort to our people during the study, I think the result was worth it. Good luck to our Bursa," he said.
