Izmir Metropolitan Municipality IT Department Head Ahmet Ata Temiz said, “While our WizmirNET users were 200 thousand monthly, we have now reached 100 thousand per day. This means 3 million users per month. Our user numbers are increasing day by day. The people of Izmir show great interest. We now provide services on a 22,5-kilometer-long coastline and an area of 1 million 110 thousand square meters. Our internet speed is very high. Nihan Kapıkıran stated that she came from Istanbul and said, “Using the internet was very good for me when I went for a walk on the beach along the Kordon. We now use location to get somewhere. In this sense, it is very useful. On walks, children sleep with lullabies. I connect to the internet and turn on a lullaby, I can take a walk by putting my child to sleep,” he said.
Uğur Demirkol also mentioned the importance of free internet service and said: “When I don't have internet, I can connect and use it as I want. When I come to the beach with my friends, we can play games.”
