Under the leadership of Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry and with the support of the Ministry of Commerce, the first foreign marketing activity was carried out in Como, Italy, within the scope of UR-GE Projects for Curtain and Upholstery Fabric and Packaged Home Textile Industry.

BTSO continues to offer export and cooperation opportunities to its members with its overseas marketing activities and purchasing delegation organizations within the scope of UR-GE projects. The first foreign marketing activity of BTSO, which is the institution that carries out the Project for Supporting the Development of International Competitiveness (UR-GE) the most in Turkey, within the scope of Curtain and Upholstery Fabric and Packaged Home Textile Industry UR-GE Projects, determines the trends in the fashion industry and hosts world-famous brands. Hosted in Italy. BTSO Assembly Member Ali Güzeldağ, TOBB Bursa Women Entrepreneurs Board Vice President and BTSO 5th Professional Committee Member Fatma Ayyıldız and the BTSO delegation, which included 26 people from a total of 47 companies, made market discovery visits as well as bilateral business meetings within the scope of the program.

“WE WILL RESIST IN ITALY MARKET”

Evaluating the event, BTSO Assembly Member Ali Güzeldağ stated that Italy is the right target market for the home textile industry and that they can increase their market share in this country with persistent efforts. Stating that Turkey is one of the first countries that come to mind when it comes to home textiles, Güzeldağ said, “Our industry is rapidly increasing its exports with its production and design skills as well as price and logistics advantages. Our industry, which reached an export figure of 3,2 billion dollars last year, has an important opportunity in front of it. After the pandemic, the inability of countries such as China, India and Pakistan to participate in international organizations in Europe brings Turkey to the fore as an alternative. In this process, our companies renewed their machine parks to increase capacity and efficiency. New investments in the sector gained momentum. At this point, as BTSO, we continue our innovative work to increase our exports. In the organization we organized in Italy within the scope of our UR-GE projects, the products of our companies met with great interest. Many of our companies have achieved positive results. In addition to Italian companies, cooperation was made with buyers from countries such as Austria, France and the USA.” said. Güzeldağ also added that they are promoting the 17th Hometex Home Textiles and Accessories Fair, which will be held at the Istanbul Expo Center on May 21-26, within the scope of their contacts in Italy.

“WE ARE ITALY'S FOURTH SUPPLIER OF PACKAGED HOME TEXTILE”

BTSO 5th Professional Committee Member Fatma Ayyıldız stated that they carried out the first international marketing activity within the scope of the Packaged Home Textile UR-GE Project and said, “Turkey is the fourth largest supplier of Italy in the packaged home textile group. Our annual export to Italy in the sector is at the level of 110 million dollars. We want to increase this figure rapidly. While our participating companies had the opportunity to get to know the innovations in the sector closely, they also held business meetings with potential buyers. Although it is the first, I can say that it is a useful event. With the understanding of cooperation and consultation, we will continue our work as Packaged Home Textile UR-GE in order to repeat the successes of BTSO in previous projects and even move them beyond. We would like to thank our Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. İbrahim Burkay, and our Ministry of Commerce for their support.” he said.

“TURKEY ITALY TRADE VOLUME IS GOING TO ITS 30 BILLION DOLLARS”

BTSO delegation also met with Turkey's Consul General in Milan Özgür Uludüz and Milan Commercial Attaché Ahmet Erkan Çetinkayış within the scope of overseas marketing activities. Consul General Özgür Uludüz gave information about the trade and investment relations between Turkey and Italy. We believe that we will reach our target of 30 billion dollars trade volume in a short time. There are also very positive developments on the investment side. Last year, Italy ranked first in foreign direct investments made to Turkey for the first time in history. There are 1.600 Italian companies in Turkey. In Italy, we have approximately 600 Turkish companies. Especially in Northern Italy, there are many areas where cooperation can be developed.” said.

“BURSA REGISTERED A VERY FAST GROWTH”

Consul General Özgür Uludüz, who spoke highly of Bursa's power in the industry, said that Bursa has become a city that is the nightmare of its rivals. Consul General Uludüz, “Bursa has experienced a very rapid growth and development, especially in the last period. At the point of export, companies have very important efforts. There is no sector left in Bursa that I do not know and meet. I congratulate all our companies for their devoted work.” he said.
