Recycling libraries continue to be established within the scope of education and awareness activities with the theme of recycling and zero waste in lifelong learning institutions. Accordingly, 525 recycling libraries made of recycling materials were established in public education centers across the country.

In the study, which aimed to provide at least one lifelong learning institution in each province with a recycling library created with recycling materials, remarkable results were obtained from public education centers in all provinces in a short time. Accordingly, 525 recycling libraries created from recycling materials were completed in public education centers across the country. There are still recycling libraries that continue to work.

Making an evaluation on the subject, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer said, “As a result of the studies initiated to contribute to the creation of a production and consumption culture, where resources are used effectively and efficiently, recycling has become one of the indispensable elements of our economy, it is possible to bring together the idle products that are not used in homes or workshops. We saw together what could be done.” said.

Reminding that products were developed with the idea of what can be done from scrap materials by adhering to the Zero Waste Project, Özer said, “While raising awareness of recycling among the trainees, their creativity and hand skills were also improved. All citizens who come to our public education centers can benefit from recycling libraries in order to create this awareness, which is formed in our institutions, teachers, master trainers, trainees and their families, in all segments of the society and to spread the practices.”

Pointing out that the number of books in recycling libraries is increasing day by day, Özer shared the following information: “Books were donated to recycling libraries by teachers, master trainers and trainees. The number of books, which was 35 thousand 513 in these institutions, reached 117 thousand 772 with the recycling libraries. While the number of books found in 2021 was 65 thousand 581, it increased to 25 thousand 2022 as of April 309, 149.

While the work on recycling libraries continues, book donations continue to increase day by day.
