The social facility, which was put into service for the public on May 5, 2023, was crowned with the opening of the maritime museum, which brings together its rich collection with its visitors.
To the opening ceremony; Former Deputy Minister of National Defense Hasan Kemal Yardımcı, Rize Deputy Lawyer Harun Mertoğlu, Rize Deputy Governor Murat Öztürk, Rize Mayor Rahmi Metin, Çaykur General Manager Yusuf Ziya Alim, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University Rector Prof. Dr. Yusuf Yıldız, AK Party Provincial Chairman Hikmet Ayar, National Education Director Yusuf Tüfekçi, Youth and Sports Provincial Director Gürhan Yıldız, Political Party Provincial Presidents, Non-Governmental Organization Presidents, Institution Directors and citizens attended.
Opening speeches at the ceremony; Rize Mayor Rahmi Metin made his greeting speeches with Rize Deputy Av. Harun Mertoğlu, Rize Deputy Governor Murat Öztürk and former Deputy Minister of National Defense Hasan Kemal Yardımcı, who donated his private collection to the Museum.
In his opening speech, Rize Mayor Rahmi Metin said; Noting that museums are a bridge between the past and the future, he said, “Maritime has developed both our culture and trade. It is an important fact to transfer the materials used in maritime in the past to the following generations who are interested in this profession. What is important for us is that we started museology from maritime background. The fact that we did it in this neighborhood has a special importance. The first lighthouse in this neighborhood was built in 1854, just 500 meters away. "In the coming period in Rize, we will build museums that reflect our city in the public garden," he said. President Metin thanked former Deputy Minister of National Defense Hasan Kemal Yardımcı, who donated his special collection to the museum in terms of diversity with his works.
The Maritime Museum, which will shed light on history, was opened with a ribbon cutting by the Rize Protocol.
