In his written statement, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu stated that work on rail systems continues in Istanbul as well as in Turkey. Karaismailoğlu, who stated that there is a total of 11 kilometers long rail system construction in 96,9 projects under construction by the Ministry, said, “The length of the metro line, which we completed in Istanbul and offered to the service of our people, exceeded 130 kilometers with the opening of Başakşehir-Pine and Sakura City Hospital-Kayaşehir Metro. output. Our metro line also attracted great interest from our citizens. Nearly 8 million people traveled on the Başakşehir-Pine and Sakura City Hospital-Kayaşehir Metro Line, which was put into service on April 2023, 1 by our President, Mr.
Noting that the 6.2 kilometer long line starts from Başakşehir Metrokent station and there are 4 stations on the route, namely Onurkent, Şehir Hospital, Kayaşehir and Kayaşehir Meydan stations, Karaismailoğlu said that the metro line passes between Başakşehir-Kayaşehir, through Çam and Sakura City Hospital, by vehicles with a design speed of 80 kilometers per hour. He emphasized that it has the capacity to serve 70 thousand passengers per hour in one direction.
IMM FAILED, THE MINISTRY TAKES OVER
Underlining that the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality informed the Ministry that they would not build the metro line as they did not build the road to the City Hospital, Karaismailoğlu said that they immediately took over the project:
“When we took over from the current IMM management, our metro line, which was at a 5% progress level, progressed rapidly as a result of our activities, test drives were made and it was prepared to be put into operation. When we took over the project; Only 5 meters of the 662-meter NATM tunnels were excavated, and the 112-meter TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) tunnels had never been started. By completing all of them, we have completed the construction of a total of 3 thousand 298 meters of tunnel. We have completed the production of 10 meters long viaduct. We completed the rail works by laying 250 thousand 295 meters of rail. We built a total of 11 thousand 595 square meters of indoor space in 4 stations. We completed the electromechanical and signaling productions and offered them to the people of Istanbul.”

With the commissioning of the line; Underlining that they provide an economical and safe transportation in the region, especially with the city center, Çam and Sakura City Hospital and the densely populated housing estates in Kayaşehir, Karaismailoğlu said, “The travel time between Kayaşehir and Mahmutbey is 20 minutes, the travel time between Metrokent and Bakırköy Freedom Square is 29. minutes, the travel time between Metrokent and Istanbul Airport was 24 minutes, and the travel time between Çam and Sakura City Hospital - Bağcılar was 23 minutes.
