Studies on the "National Rail Systems Research and Test Center" (URAYSİM) project, which was announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan from Eskişehir and which will make Turkey one of the world's leading centers in the field of rail systems when completed, have been completed by URAYSİM's Research Infrastructures No. 6550. It gained momentum when it was included in the scope of the Law on Support.

URAYSİM gained legal personality

URAYSİM gained legal personality by being included in the scope of Law No. 6550 on Supporting Research Infrastructures, and within this scope, the first board meeting was held recently hosted by TÜRASAŞ Eskişehir Regional Directorate. The second board meeting of URAYSİM was hosted by TÜRASAŞ Eskişehir Regional Directorate. The meeting was attended by TÜRASAŞ General Manager. and URAYSİM Chairman of the Board Mustafa Metin Yazar and URAYSİM Board Members Prof. Dr. Fuat Erdal (Anadolu University), Prof. Dr. Mustafa Tuncan (Eskişehir Technical University), Dr. Yalçın Eyigün (Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure AYGM), Ufuk Yalçın (TCDD Taşımacılık A.Ş.), Gürhan Albayrak (Albayrak Makina A.Ş.) Dr. Tolgahan Kaya (RUTE), Abdullah Bocan (Durmazlar Makina A.Ş.) and Yiğit Belin (Bozankaya A.Ş.) joined.

After the meeting in which the evaluations regarding the administrative structure and infrastructure process of URAYSİM were made, the Members of the Board of Directors of URAYSİM organized a technical inspection visit to the URAYSİM project site in Alpu.

TÜRASAŞ General Manager and URAYSİM Chairman of the Board Mustafa Metin Yazar underlined that URAYSİM will advance Turkey in the field of rail systems and continued his words as follows: It will be a center where light rail system vehicles in the city traveling at a speed of 400 km will be tested. Eskişehir has a developed ecosystem in the field of rail systems. URAYSİM will add great strength to this field and therefore there will be demand for this center from all over the world. URAYSİM is one of the vision projects of domestic and national production understanding. URAYSİM will be an important center for the testing of rail system vehicles of European and Middle Eastern countries, while ensuring that the resources that our country pays abroad for the test costs remain in our country.

Rector Erdal: “It will make significant contributions to our country and Eskişehir”

Anadolu University Rector and URAYSİM Board Member Prof. Dr. Fuat Erdal, on the other hand, stated that they examined the latest works on site with the technical trip and said: “We accelerated our work with the inclusion of URAYSİM in the scope of the Law No. 6550 on Supporting Research Infrastructures. We are working hard to ensure that the project contributes to our country and Eskişehir as soon as possible. Our country has left behind an important stage in the field of rail systems. We produced Turkey's first electric mainline locomotive with TSI certificate, which was produced with domestic and national resources. Our high-speed rail network and light rail network are growing every day. URAYSİM is a versatile project. For example, by serving as an R&D center, it will train personnel who will work in the field of rail systems and make significant contributions to both our country and Eskişehir in terms of employment and economy”.
