Metro Istanbul announced that the operation of all rail system lines that can reach Taksim has been stopped by the decision of the governorship.

With the decision of the Istanbul Governor's Office, some metro stations in Istanbul were closed to prevent a May 1 celebration in Taksim Square. Osmanbey, Taksim and Şişhane metro stops cannot be used since morning hours.

The following statement was made on the social media account of Metro Istanbul, a subsidiary of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB): “In line with the decision taken by the Istanbul Governorship, on Monday, May 1, our M2 Yenikapı-Hacıosman Metro Line's Şişhane, Taksim and Osmanbey stations and F1 Taksim-Kabataş Our Funicular Line will be closed for operation. Our vehicles will not stop at Şişhane, Taksim and Osmanbey stations.”
