The 13th Beijing International Film Festival, jointly organized by the China Media Group (CMG), Beijing Municipality and China National Film Administration, kicked off at the Yanqi Lake International Meeting and Exhibition Center in Beijing.
Shen Haixiong, Vice Chairman of the Promotion Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CCP) and CMG Head, responsible for the organization of the film festival, in his speech at the opening ceremony of the festival, said that the film festival with the theme "Fusion of Various Civilizations with the Film Festival" will be held in March by Chinese President Xi Jinping. He stated that it is a good indicator of the Global Civilization Initiative.
Shen stated that CMG, which tries to tell the stories about China in a good way, is ready to make joint efforts with the countries of the world for the fusion of various civilizations. In addition to CMG, Beijing Municipality, Chinese Literature and Arts Federation (CFLAC), Chinese Writers Association (CWA), Chinese Press Association (ACJA) and Chinese National Film Administration officials and the film festival's honor guest Thailand's China. Ambassador Arthayudh Srisamoot attended the opening ceremony of the festival.
