Awarded to 20 Women for Scientific Research in China

A total of 20 young women scientists and a team of five scientists doing research on the prevention of air pollution and other fields were awarded on Saturday, April 22. The award ceremony was organized by the National Committee of the China Political People's Consultative Conference and the Science and Technical Association of China. Speaking during the award ceremony, Shen Yueyue, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the China Political People's Consultative Conference and Chairman of the National Federation of Chinese Women, said that they put women scientists in the forefront of their country's basic interests and the needs of the people.

Shen urged all women to make breakthroughs in original and pioneering scientific and technological research and to raise the level of independence and power in the country's science and technology fields by focusing on bottleneck problems in core technologies. Since 2004, 184 women scientists and researchers have been awarded within this framework.
