Men Pay Attention to These Problems
Men Beware of These Problems!

It is inevitable for men to experience urological problems in any part of their lives. Although these problems increase with aging, they can also occur due to certain conditions, injuries, congenital defects and genetic factors. Urinary health is a vital component of overall health for men. Urology and Andrology Specialist Prof. Dr. Ömer Faruk Karataş “Men have symptoms and conditions in their bodies that they should pay particular attention to. It is important that these are not ignored in order to prevent the emergence of larger problems in the future.”

Here are some of the most common urological conditions that affect men;

Frequent Urination at Night

Medically called nocturia, this condition is a major urological disorder that causes waking up to urinate during the night. Frequent urination at night becomes more common as people get older and can occur for different reasons. Although it is normal for most people to urinate once a night, depending on the amount of liquid consumed, especially before going to bed, it can be thought that there are different underlying health problems with repeated urination.

In cases where the kidneys produce excessive urine at night or the bladder cannot be fully emptied due to prostate diseases, frequent urination at night can be seen. Treatment will be possible by eliminating the underlying cause. However, the problem can be solved by restricting fluid intake in the evening, resting the legs at a high level, wearing compression stockings, or timing diuretic blood pressure medications correctly.

Peyronie's Disease

It is a disease that develops in the penis and causes curved and painful erections. Peyronie's disease (penis curvature), which is caused by abnormal connective tissues such as a fibrous scar in the sheath surrounding the penis, causes disturbing changes in the function, shape and size of the penis. This disease, which is often an obstacle to sexual intercourse, also makes it difficult to have and maintain an erection. The worsening of the condition can be prevented with early treatment. Another unsettling result of the disease, which causes stress and anxiety on patients from the beginning, is the shortening of the penis. Appropriate treatment can help improve bothersome symptoms such as pain, curvature, and shortening of the penis.

Premature Ejaculation

The problem of premature ejaculation, which can be explained as the state of having an orgasm much earlier than the expectation of a man and his partner, is a condition that affects the majority of the society and may occur due to different reasons. Considered a category of male sexual dysfunctions, this problem usually includes ejaculation before or just after vaginal penetration during sexual intercourse. Premature ejaculation, which is a negative situation for both the person and his partner, can cause a lack of self-confidence and a tendency to avoid sexual intercourse over time.

An underlying erection problem develops due to reasons such as imbalances in the levels of hormones that play a role in male sexual functions, low levels of serotonin or dopamine, which are chemicals in the brain responsible for sexual desire and excitement, and excessive sensitivity in the penis. Psychologically, performance anxiety and the tension of being with a new partner, if any, may also occur due to stress and mood disorders, relationship and communication problems with the partner. In addition to medical treatment, the problem can be solved with behavioral therapies and psychological counseling.

Impotence

Urology and Andrology Specialist Prof. Dr. Ömer Faruk Karataş said, “Erectile dysfunction, also known as erectile dysfunction or impotence, is the inability to obtain or maintain enough hardness of the penis for sexual intercourse. Cardiovascular diseases, high cholesterol, diabetes and obesity, high blood pressure and metabolic syndrome, Parkinson's or multiple sclerosis, use of products of the genus and certain prescription drugs, prostate diseases, low testosterone levels or peyronie's, sleep and nutritional disorders, depression, anxiety and Erectile dysfunction can be seen due to stress, various injuries, surgeries and traumas. Oral medications, sexual therapies, penile injections, vacuum devices, intrauretal drugs, shock wave treatments and penile prostheses are applied in the treatment.
