Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant, Neither Local nor National

CHP Deputy Chairman Ahmet Akın; He stated that while the companies at Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant have been making mutual statements for 5 days, the absence of any statement from the government is an indication that Turkey has no right to speak on the project. Akın from CHP said, “While the related companies have been making mutual statements for 5 days, why is the government silent, which announces Akkuyu as a domestic and national project? The lie of the government's domestic and nationality has been exposed once again," he said.

CHP Deputy Chairman Ahmet Akın made a written statement regarding the discussion of the termination of the contract between the companies in the construction of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant. Akın from CHP stated the following in his statement:

'WHY IS THE POWER QUIET FOR 5 DAYS?'

Related companies have been making mutual statements for the last 5 days regarding the termination of the contract of İçtaş, the main contractor in the construction of Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (NGS). While the related companies blame each other; It is very meaningful that the government has not made any statement in the face of this situation.

'POWER DOES NOT HAVE A WORD IN AKKUYU'

The fact that the AK Party government has not made any statement regarding this situation is a clear proof that the claim that Akkuyu NPP is a domestic and national project is not true. Akkuyu was conceived as a political project from the very beginning. At the point reached today, it is an indication that the government has not had a say in the project that it wants to collect political rent with the perception that it is domestic and national.

'AKKUYU NGS; NEITHER LOCAL AND NATIONAL'

Akkuyu NPP; It is being built with a model that has no second example in the world, using the 'build-operate-own' method. The construction, operation and ownership of Akkuyu will be almost entirely owned by the Russian state-owned company Rosatom. Akkuyu NPP; Although it is aimed to create a “perception of locality and nationality” by stating that more than 80 percent of those employed in the field during its construction are Turkish citizens, it is a project entirely owned by a Russian company. Technology is also Russian technology. Therefore, Akkuyu is neither local nor national.

'EXPENSIVE ELECTRICITY UNTIL 2040'

A very high price guarantee of 15 dollars per kilowatt-hour – up to 12,35 dollars cents – will be guaranteed from Akkuyu NPP for 15,83 years. The warranty given to Akkuyu will last until 2040. It is stated that electricity generation costs will decrease with the transformation to be experienced in renewable energy until 2040. On the other hand, even today, the cost of 12,35 cents is much higher than the electricity produced in the power plants of the state-owned EÜAŞ.
