District Chairman Çakır included the following statements in his message indicating the meaning and importance of the day: “The Grand National Assembly of Turkey, which is the symbol of our national sovereignty and independence, was established on April 23, 1920, under the chairmanship of the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Since this date, our nation has determined its own destiny, and our country has taken its place among the respected countries of the world with a national will that has overcome all difficulties.
On the other hand, the founding day of our Assembly, which broke the chains of captivity and occupation, liberated our people, and is the symbol of the sovereignty achieved by the nation with its blood and lives, was gifted to children and new generations by the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk himself. This gift is a symbol of the Turkish Grand National Assembly's never-ending responsibility towards our country. Therefore, the most valuable legacy we will leave to our children is a free and fair Turkey.
With these feelings and thoughts, on the 104th anniversary of the establishment of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, we respectfully commemorate our heroes, martyrs and veterans who sacrificed their lives for the independence and freedom of our nation, especially Great Atatürk, and celebrate the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day of our beloved nation, where every child's face smiles and his heart is filled with love. “I wish for a warming Turkey.”
