Housing Sales Decreased… There was No Change in the Cities and Countries with the Most Sales

Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) published the Housing Sales Statistics for March.

While house sales across Turkey decreased by 0,1 percent in March compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 105 thousand 394, Istanbul retained its place in house sales with 19 thousand 40 house sales and the highest share with 18,1 percent. According to sales numbers, Istanbul was followed by Ankara with 9 thousand 523 house sales and a 9,0 percent share, and Izmir with 6 thousand 413 house sales and a 6,1 percent share. The provinces with the lowest number of house sales were Ardahan with 23 houses, Bayburt with 42 houses and Hakkari with 55 houses.

Housing sales amounted to 1,3 thousand 279 in the January-March period, with a decrease of 604 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

While mortgaged house sales were 12 thousand 880, 3 thousand 105 of the mortgaged sales in March were; It was recorded that 6 thousand 569 of the mortgaged sales in the January-March period were first-hand sales.

Other housing sales across Turkey increased by 15,3 percent in March compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 92 thousand 514. The share of other sales in total housing sales was 87,8 percent. Other housing sales in the January-March period increased by 12,3 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 251 thousand 982.

The number of first-hand house sales across Turkey increased by 4,6 percent in March compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 34 thousand 399. The share of first-hand house sales in total house sales was 32,6 percent. First-hand house sales amounted to 5,2 thousand 88 in the January-March period, with an increase of 256 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

70 THOUSAND 995 HOUSES CHANGED HANDS IN SECOND HAND HOUSING SALES

Second-hand house sales across Turkey decreased by 2,2% in March compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 70 thousand 995. The share of second-hand house sales in total house sales was 67,4 percent. Second-hand house sales amounted to 4,0 thousand 191 in the January-March period, with a decrease of 348 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

Housing sales to foreigners decreased by 47,9 percent in March compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 778. The share of housing sales to foreigners in total housing sales in March was 1,7 percent. Istanbul ranked first in housing sales to foreigners with 652 housing sales. Istanbul was followed by Antalya with 618 house sales and Mersin with 151 house sales.

Housing sales to foreigners decreased by 48,0 percent in the January-March period compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 5 thousand 685.

According to country nationalities, the most housing sales were made to citizens of the Russian Federation

In March, citizens of the Russian Federation bought 411 houses from Turkey. Citizens of the Russian Federation were followed by citizens of Iran with 182 houses, Ukraine with 129 houses and Iraqi citizens with 82 houses, respectively.
