We hosted Ahmet Yıldız, the living plane tree of railways, nicknamed “Demirci Ahmet”, who devoted his life to railways. The 89-year-old old plane tree, which TCDD General Manager Hasan Pezük hosted in his office and listened to his memories, later visited the Steam Train Museum, where he had emotional moments.

The railwaymen, who always show the best of loyalty in the best way, did not forget Ahmet Yıldız, who served our organization for years. Uncle Ahmet, who was personally interested by General Manager Hasan Pezük, took everyone to the past with the memories he shared.

During the visit, which took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere, Uncle Ahmet told that he has worked for the railways since the first day he stepped into the railways, and that he is proud of this. Stating that he worked for the railways until 1981, “Demirci Ahmet” shared his old memories, determination to work and life story with General Manager Hasan Pezük. Stating that he was successful in the exam opened by the railways, Ahmet Yıldız said, “I got a job in 1957. I learned the job by working. At that time, there was no blacksmith like us. They said nobody does what you do. The 15-kilogram sledgehammer would not fall from my hand until the evening. I would do my job well. We had a fortune in the railways, I served for 25 years. I have never cheated in my job. They called me Blacksmith Ahmet. I worked in many places such as Irmak and Kayseri. I was doing whatever was necessary regarding iron. I'm a hot blacksmith. This is my main profession, but no one could do what I do. When a machine takes water, I know where it fails. I was examining like a doctor. "said.
