Construction of Emek Hatice Kübra İlgün Youth and Sports Facility Continues

The construction of the youth and sports center named after the national taekwondo player Hatice Kübra İlgün, which was brought to Emek Mahallesi by the Metropolitan Municipality and won the Olympic medal for Bursa for the first time in its history, continues rapidly. In the facility, which will provide special services for wrestling and taekwondo branches, new athletes who will make history in the Olympics will be trained.

In addition to supporting amateur clubs in order to make Bursa a brand city in sports, the Metropolitan Municipality, which has brought sports facilities 'special for branches' to the city, is also building a privileged facility in Emek Mahallesi. The facility, which will have a total usage area of 1420 square meters, will bear the name of Hatice Kübra İlgün, the Olympic medalist national taekwondo player of Bursa Metropolitan Belediyespor. On the ground floor of Emek Hatice Kübra İlgün Youth and Sports Facility, there will be a wrestling hall, taekwondo hall, locker rooms and trainer rooms. The upper floor will be used as a youth center with its library, audio reading room, dietitian/psychologist room and study areas. The facility, which will meet an important need in the region with its landscaping and open car park, is being built with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The rough construction of the facility, which has been completed to a large extent, is expected to be completed by the end of August.

New champions will emerge

Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş said that they are active in more than 17 construction sites in 600 districts, in every field from infrastructure to transportation, from the environment to historical heritage. Noting that Emek and the neighborhoods around it are growing rapidly, and accordingly the needs are constantly increasing, Mayor Aktaş said, “In this process, there was a need for such facilities that will serve especially the young population. Youth is the subject we are most sensitive to. Because they are our future, the future of our city and country. What we can do for them is less. We named these facilities after our sister, Hatice Kübra, who achieved an Olympic degree for the first time in Bursa's history. We wanted our children trained here to be inspired by Hatice, to take her as an example, and to raise new athletes who will compete in the Olympics. Our facility is already beneficial to our region and Bursa," he said.
