Historic Victory in Mathematics Olympiad! Türkiye Ranked First in Country Ranking!

18 students representing Turkey achieved a historical success by winning 98 Gold and 27 Silver medals in the 6th Young Balkan Mathematical Olympiad, held in Tirana, the capital of Albania, and where 3 students from 3 countries competed. With these results, Türkiye became the first in the country ranking.

Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır stated that young people who produce and develop science and technology are their most important companions, and that TÜBİTAK Scientist Support has increased 20 times in real terms in the last 85 years.

Young scientists representing the international arena within the scope of the 2202 Science Olympics program carried out by TÜBİTAK BİDEB proudly waved our flag in the Olympics and put the name of Turkey on the top. From students; Mustafa Dortluoğlu, Can Erturan and Ege Akgün won the Gold Medal, while Tuğra Özbey Eratlı, Oğuz Fatih Tepe and Umut Kağan Yazgan won the Silver medal.

SCIENTIFIC SUPPORT INCREASED 20 TIMES IN THE LAST 85 YEARS

Congratulating the historical victory of the youth, Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır said, “These bright stars of science, these degrees achieved by our youth; once again proved the power of our country in the world of science. For a Turkey that produces and develops science and technology and creates our competitive power in the international arena, our young people are the most important path and colleagues. In the last 20 years, TÜBİTAK Scientist Support has increased 85 times in real numbers. The number of people we support has increased 53 times. These supports make significant contributions to the development of our R&D human resources. In addition to our ever-increasing successes, we also host the International Science Olympics in our country. We organized the 2020nd International Chemistry Olympiad in 52, the 2022nd European Girls Computer Olympiad in 2, and the 2023th Balkan Mathematics Olympiad in 40 in our country. In 2024, we will host the 28th Young Balkan Mathematics Olympiad. I would like to thank all our students who participated in the Olympics, their families, teachers, all academics who took part in the trainings, especially our Committee Chairman, and everyone who contributed.” made its assessment.
