'Woman is the Home of Women' Festival Held in Kyrenia

Aiming to bring together the earthquake survivors of Hatay with Cyprus, the “Women are the Home of Women” Festival was held in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Under the leadership of the Cyprus Turkish Entrepreneur Women's Association (GİKAD), the festival was organized with the contributions of Hatay Gastronomy House and the Turkish Embassy in Nicosia. Dr. Nazan Savaş and Mayor of Kyrenia Murat Şenkul attended the ceremony.

GİKAD President İçim Çağıner Kavuklu made the opening speech of the festival, which aims at getting to know Cyprus and cultural interaction among earthquake survivors in Hatay.

Speaking about sustainable projects after the earthquake in Hatay, Prof. Dr. Nazan Savaş talked about the work done for all the needs of the city as the people of Hatay.

Nazan Savaş and Sibel Tatar explained that Hatay is an exemplary city for the whole world with a very important and historical richness.

Starting his speech by thanking the Turkish Cypriot people who mobilized to provide aid to earthquake victims, Savaş started his speech with the Great Leader Mustafa Mustafa, the Founder of the Republic, who has 2 titles from the United Nations (UN) Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and hosted 13 civilizations and 27 different cultures throughout history. He noted that Hatay, the legacy of Kemal Atatürk, will be restored as a sustainable, safe and smart city in the light of science after the earthquake.

Sibel Tatar, the wife of TRNC President Ersin Tatar, stated that the historical and cultural richness of Hatay, which has been home to many civilizations throughout history and is considered one of the oldest settlements in Anatolia, is reflected in its cuisine, as in every other area, in her speech at the festival. He noted that although he was influenced by Ottoman cuisine, he created a unique culinary culture thanks to his historical background and cultural richness. Pointing out that Hatay cuisine has been awarded the title of gastronomy city by UNESCO with over 600 types of food, Tatar emphasized the importance of preserving Hatay cuisine, kitchen tools and local recipes, and transferring them from generation to generation.

During the festival, Hatay Kömbesi Workshop organized by Chef Hazer Amani and UNESCO Hatay Gastronomy House chefs Sevcan Aksu and Filiz Kaya attracted great attention, while Girne Mayor Murat Şenkul, “Very Traveling Gourmet” Akif Budak, Master Chef Hazer Amani, Hürriyet Newspaper columnist Ramazan Basan , UNESCO Hatay Gastronomy House Director İpek Arslan, Cyprus Final University Lecturer Selim Yeşilpınar, Turkey-TRNC Chamber of Commerce Form TR Side Vice President and GİKAD honorary member Ayla Harp, Erdemli Holding Chairman of the Board of Directors Koray Erdemli, İndexgrup A.Ş Regional Manager GİKAD honor 2 separate panels were held in which Zülal Koç was a speaker.
