International Denizli Glass Biennial Ended With A Meaningful Event

The International Denizli Glass Biennial, organized for the 7th time this year by Denizli Metropolitan Municipality, ended with a meaningful event. 80 TL, obtained from 221.000 pieces of handcrafted works of glass artists who participated in the biennial, which were sold at fierce auction, were donated to the earthquake victims.

Bitter auction for earthquake victims

Denizli Metropolitan Municipality 4th International Denizli Glass Biennial, which lasted 7 days in cooperation with Denizli Metropolitan Municipality and Mixed Design Workshop, and whose theme this year was determined as "My Hand is in You", ended with a meaningful event. On the final night of the biennial, an auction was held for 80 pieces of handcrafted works of glass artists, the proceeds of which will be donated to earthquake victims. Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Osman Zolan, Head of Culture and Social Affairs Department Hüdaverdi Otaklı, guests and many citizens attended the auction held at the Metropolitan Municipality Nihat Zeybekci Congress and Culture Center. Ömür Duruerk from the Mixed Design Workshop explained that 10 thousand TL was donated to the students within the scope of Elim Sende students support program. In the support section of Elim Sende, 52 glass artists from Turkey and abroad have given 80 works of art to be donated to earthquake victims, Duruerk said, “Our donors will both touch the earthquake victims and buy a unique piece of work at the auction. May it be beneficial.”

After the speech, the auction started. In the auction, directed by Mehmet Akif Yılmaztürk, the works and artists were introduced one by one and shown to the guests. The auction, which featured 52 works of 80 glass artists who went wild, attracted great interest. At the auction, where all the works found buyers in a short time, 221 thousand TL was collected to be donated to the earthquake victims. It was stated that the donors will show the receipt of the amount deposited in the accounts of the institutions and organizations that provide aid to the disaster victims and will receive their works.

100 artists in its 100th anniversary

Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Osman Zolan said that Turkey's first and only glass biennial, which lasted for 4 days, was completed with a very meaningful event. Explaining that Denizli Metropolitan Municipality has been mobilizing for the earthquake victims since the first day of the disaster, and that all his fellow countrymen have given their best support in this process, Mayor Osman Zolan said, “May Allah be pleased with all of them. I would also like to thank our glass artists who contributed to this process with their works.” President Zolan said, “We held our glass biennial with 100 artists from 12 countries on the 100th anniversary of our Republic. We organized many beautiful events, especially the glass clothing fashion show, and hosted thousands of our citizens who wondered how glass could take shape and turn into art. I would like to thank everyone who contributed.”
