Work continues for the new metro projects announced by Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş with the slogan "Works are on the rails in the capital". EGO General Directorate has started the drilling works within the scope of the "Final Project Work of the Martyrs-Forum Rail System Extension Line of the M5 Line, which is planned to consist of 4 kilometers and 4 stations".
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality continues to implement projects that will expand the rail system network in the Capital.
EGO General Directorate, which took action in order to eliminate the traffic congestion caused by the increasing population density and the number of vehicles, started the drilling works within the scope of the "Definitive Project Work of the Martyrs-Forum Rail System Extension Line of the M4 Line" within the scope of the extension of the Keçiören Metro.
“AFTER THE PROJECT IS APPROVED, THE CONSTRUCTION TENDER WILL BE PASSED”
Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş, who announced the start of drilling works with a video post on his social media accounts, used the following statements:
“We have started drilling for the line that will extend the Keçiören Metro to the Forum. After the project of our metro line, which will consist of 5 kilometers and 4 separate stations, is approved, the construction tender will be started without delay.”
30 DRILLING POINTS DETERMINED
The new 4-kilometer line, which will extend the M5 Line from Martyrs to Forum, will consist of 4 separate stations.
Within the scope of the project, the Martyrs-Forum line, which is included in the 'Transportation Master Plan' projections, will be extended to the Forum area, where the warehouse area will be located, starting from the Martyrs, the last station of the Keçiören line operated in the northern direction of the city. The new line will serve the Sanatorium Hospital, Ufuktepe and Ovacık regions.
While the ground survey and drilling works were started for the preparation of the route and station projects, 30 drilling points were determined. It is planned to carry out drilling works at depths varying between 250-21 meters, one in every 81 meters on the route.
“TRANSPORTATION STUDIES WERE DONE AT THE FIRST STAGE”
EGO Deputy General Manager Emin Güre, who examined the ground drilling works carried out on site, said:
“Last year, we made a project tender for 3 rail systems. The first of these was the Kızılay- Dikmen line, the second was the extension of the Koru Station to Bağlıca and Yaşamkent, and the third was the tender for the extension of the Keçiören line from Martyrs to Forum. In the first stage, transportation studies and ground studies were carried out. At the stage we have reached today, we are doing our drilling works. After the drilling works are completed, a lot of progress will have been made regarding the project. As you know, rail systems are one of the most important elements of urban transportation because they are not affected by surface transportation. On the contrary, the above ground traffic has a positive effect because it is underground. I hope everything goes well and we will present these lines to the service of our citizens from Ankara as soon as possible.
