Great Interest to Izmir International Polyphonic Choirs Festival

The second Izmir International Polyphonic Choirs Festival, organized by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality to encourage polyphonic choral music and to contribute to the universal dimension of Turkish music, continues. The festival, attended by 27 choirs and 81 choristers from 3 different cities, attracted great interest.

Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyerİzmir is hosting the İzmir Polyphonic Choirs Festival for the second time this year, in line with the 'city of culture and arts' target. The choir sessions of the festival, which will last until April 16, in cooperation with the İzmir Branch of the Turkish Polyphonic Choirs Association, continue at the Ahmed Adnan Saygun Art Center (AASSM), while the talks continue at the Kültürpark Youth Theatre.

Choirs show their activities

Expressing that 27 choirs and 81 choirists from 3 different cities participated in the choir auditions held at AASSM, Choir Conductor Türker Barmanbek said, “The festival is experiencing intense and active days this year. This makes us very happy. Because within the scope of this festival, the choir, choir conductors and music educators have the opportunity to exhibit their activities. We will make a positive contribution to our education life by supporting the choirs participating in the festival, including private schools, fine arts high schools and municipal choirs.”

Choirs will be rewarded after evaluation

Choirs will be evaluated by the "Festival Evaluation Board" in 15 different musical branches, without competing with each other, and will be rewarded artistically in the musical branch with the highest score.
