It was announced that the first locally transmitted monkeypox virus case was detected in South Korea

In the statement made by the South Korea Center for Disease Control and Prevention (KDCA), it was announced that the monkeypox virus was detected in a person who did not have a recent travel history. It was stated that the patient came to the hospital with a complaint of skin rash on Monday, April 3, and was evaluated as a suspected case of monkeypox on Thursday, and the test result was positive.

While it was stated that the total number of cases in the country increased to 6, it was emphasized that the other 5 patients traveled abroad, the last patient did not go abroad in the last 3 months and had no known contact with an infected person.

The first case of monkeypox in South Korea was detected on June 22 last year.
