Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) continues its activities on the 10th day of the great earthquake that affected 9 provinces in Kahramanmaraş. Vital services such as search and rescue, assistance, cleaning and accommodation are carried out in many cities under the coordination of AFAD, with 2.952 personnel and 1.179 construction equipment and service vehicles. Many products such as food, drink and clothing were sent to the earthquake area with 401 trucks. The Mediterranean type nutritious bread of Hamidiye Su and Halk Ekmek also reached the provinces affected by the earthquake. A food truck with a capacity of 6.000 people and a daily mobile bakery of 15.000 serve in Antakya. In line with the needs, the kitchen installation in the region is evaluated in coordination with the district teams.

2 trucks transferred to Hatay's Arsuz district are distributing at Espo Antre warehouses under the coordination of Arsuz District Governorate and district municipality. In addition, İBB distributes the necessary materials to the surrounding villages and neighborhoods together with the logistics center of the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects in Antakya Defne.

IMM Fire Department, which supported the search and rescue efforts by a total of 4 K9 certified dogs, carried out another emotional rescue operation on 14 February. The dog named Royce, whose owners passed away, was rescued alive after 225 hours as a result of intense efforts.

The dialogue of Mehmet Aslan, the brother of Ali Aslan, who died in the earthquake, with the firefighters, brought tears to his eyes. Stating that his older brother Ali Aslan and his family settled in Hatay Samandağ after the Izmir earthquake, Mehmet Aslan said, "I couldn't say when people were under a dent, because my brother's dog was there, thanks to friends."

IMM Firefighters also stated that they were very happy that the dog came out alive and said, “All living things are very important to us. We had a veterinarian examine him. He was fine, we were given food and water. It is very painful,” he said.

IMM, 7 veterinarians in the region were assigned to the region. Animals are treated by veterinarians in the clinic, which was established in Antakya Sevgi Park and has the possibility of surgery. Food distribution was also started in the districts of Hatay to our animal friends who were affected by the earthquake.

A purchase was made that would quickly increase the total tent capacity to 1.000 units.

The Orhangazi ferry, which will provide accommodation for the disaster victims in Hatay, started to host its guests in Iskenderun. The Osmangazi ship set out on its maiden voyage to evacuate people who want to go to Mersin, Antalya, Izmir and Istanbul provinces.

The Orhangazi ship, designed as a living and rehabilitation area, has a kitchen that can serve 3 people for 1.200 meals, showers and toilets, infirmary and psychological counseling rooms, and a tanker of fuel. 1200 people began to be hosted on the ship, which was equipped to meet all kinds of needs.

Many services, from kindergarten to health and psychological counseling services, are provided on the ship, where many fine details are considered. In the ferry where surgeons, pediatricians, internal medicine and psychiatry specialists and psychologists are present, playgrounds were also created for children affected by the disaster. On the ship, a total of 109 personnel including the crew, health personnel, psychologist, driver, kitchen personnel, security personnel and kindergarten teacher started to support the disaster victims.

DAMAGE ASSESSMENT WORKS ARE SUPPORTED

For damage assessment purposes; 312 aid vehicles and 40 containers were sent to the earthquake area. 35 engineers / technicians landed in Maraş by plane, and they are working in Gaziantep in damage assessment studies with AFAD guidance. Vehicles with 15 drivers take part in damage assessment studies in Gaziantep under the coordination of AFAD.
