It will be renewed by replacing common fish species that have lost their ability to be exhibited in the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Marine Biology Museum.

Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Marine Biology Museum, located in Antalya Kaleiçi Marina, provides a close acquaintance with marine life and endangered species. In the museum, where hundreds of sea creatures such as sharks, lobsters, octopuses, stingrays, sponges and bony fish are located, common fish that lost their display feature and lost their color will be replaced and renewed as part of the cooperation to be carried out with Akdeniz University.

SPECIES EXAMINED AND DETECTED

In the Marine Biology Museum, where local and foreign visitors travel in the underwater life of the Mediterranean, a study has been started for the exchange of non-prohibited species. Within the scope of the project to be carried out between Antalya Metropolitan Municipality and Akdeniz University Fisheries Faculty, the fish that are in the museum but lost their display feature will be exchanged. In this context, a study was carried out in the museum.

EXCEPT FOR PROHIBITED SPECIES

Saying that the Marine Biology Museum is an important place for the sea city of Antalya in terms of the promotion and protection of sea creatures, Akdeniz University Faculty of Fisheries Faculty Member Mehmet Gökoğlu said: In this context

As a university, we will cooperate with Antalya Metropolitan Municipality for the exchange of species. Except for endangered and forbidden species, especially cartilaginous fish such as sharks and stingrays, species will be replaced. During this change, we will not catch any endangered cartilaginous fish and bring them to the museum. With the work to be carried out, the museum will be enriched in terms of fish species. Citizens will also be able to closely examine the fish they are curious about,” he said.
