Family and Social Services Minister Derya Yanık announced that they will open 71 new Family Support Centers (ADEM) and 12 new Social Support Centers (SODAM) this year to contribute to the personal and professional development of women and Romani citizens. Minister Yanık stated that there will be a kindergarten opportunity so that more women can benefit from these centers.

Stating that ADEM and SODAMs provide courses and trainings on psychosocial, sociocultural, professional development and personal development for women and Romani citizens, Minister Yanık said, "We will continue to expand ADEM and SODAMs across the country in line with the needs."

Stating that they aim for the active participation of citizens, especially women, in the economy and that they continue their work for this purpose, Minister Yanık said, “For a strong, sustainable, balanced and inclusive development, it is inevitable to support women with education and economic incentives. In this context, we will open 71 new Family Support Centers (ADEM) and 12 new Social Support Centers (SODAM) this year to contribute to the personal and professional development of women and Romani citizens. We will also have nurseries so that more women can benefit from these centers.”

Noting that Family Support Centers have been operating since 2012, Minister Yanık said, "We provide courses and trainings that will contribute to the psychosocial, sociocultural, professional and personal development of women in our ADEMs."

2,7 million women benefited from ADEMs

Stating that ADEMs also provide training on family communication, basic disaster awareness, healthy nutrition and children's rights, along with the professional and personal development of women, Minister Yanık said, “To date, 2,7 million women have received training from ADEMs. We are increasing the number of our 2021 ADEMs operating by the end of 256. In this direction, we will continue to continue our family-oriented service by opening 71 new ADEMs.”

Minister Yanık shared the information about other trainings given at ADEMs as follows:

“Courses of handicrafts, hairdressing and clothing are most popular in our centers. In addition to these, we have tailoring, cooking, computer, literacy, carpet weaving, foreign language, oil painting, chess courses as well as musical, cultural, social and sports courses by master trainers from Public Education Centers.”

12 Social Solidarity Centers Will Be Opened

Minister Yanık informed that they will open new Social Solidarity Centers (SODAM) in addition to ADEMs and put them at the service of Romani citizens. Stating that SODAMs have been active since 2014, Minister Yanık said that they opened these centers in regions where Romani citizens live intensively.

Noting that SODAMs are centers that operate to ensure the psychosocial, sociocultural, professional, artistic and personal development of Romani citizens in order to ensure their social integration, Minister Yanık said, “We create environments that can contribute to the social development of our women in need. In this context, we will add 35 more to 12 SODAMs operating in this context and put them at the service of our citizens.

Stating that they organize various courses and training programs that will contribute to the psychosocial, sociocultural, professional, artistic and personal development of Romani citizens in SODAMs, Minister Yanık said, “With our Social Solidarity Center (SODAM), whose number will increase to 47, we contribute to the professional and personal development of our Roman citizens. In our centers, we organize courses such as hairdressing, tailoring, cooking, literacy, carpet weaving. After the course, we issue a certificate approved by the Ministry of National Education. There are also cultural, social and sports courses, especially music and painting. To date, 330 thousand Romani citizens have benefited from our SODAMs.”
