Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality started field studies for the “2040 Kocaeli Sustainable Transportation Master Plan and Updating the Logistics Master Plan”. In order to update old information and increase the reliability of the database, census and survey studies are carried out for transportation.
“SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORTATION MAIN PLAN”
Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality prepared the Kocaeli Transportation Master Plan in 2009 and updated the plan in 2014. After the completed plan, Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality implemented many transportation projects, especially the tram line. In the prepared plan, field studies were started for the "2040 Kocaeli Sustainable Transportation Master Plan and Updating the Logistics Master Plan" to cover new transportation projects.
TITLES HAVE BEEN DETERMINED
Within the scope of the studies, additional information such as population, workforce, workplace distribution, other socio-economic data, general traffic and public transport vehicle and passenger counts, pedestrian, passenger, user surveys, speed and travel time studies are collected in order to define the urban journey structure. In this context, “2040 Kocaeli Sustainable Transportation Master Plan and Updating the Logistics Master Plan” are discussed under the headings of Road Traffic Counts, External Station Counts, Highway and Public Transport Speed Studies, Logistics Focus/Section Counts and Surveys, Passenger Surveys and other information.

Within the scope of the “2040 Kocaeli Sustainable Transportation Master Plan” studies, counts are made to determine the vehicle and passenger crossings between regions on the control, curtain and cordon lines determined to be used in the calibration of the transportation model. In the selection of both cords and curtains, sections were created to determine the journeys made between regions and to represent the mobility of a particular region or inter-regional within the city. A total of 15 cross-section points were determined by creating 3 curtain lines, 1 cord lines and 153 outer cord line for Kocaeli. With the evaluations made, counting was envisaged for 136 cross-section points and the studies are continuing.
CURRENT DATA
In order to calculate the journeys during the day on the curtain and cordon line, vehicle counts are made uninterruptedly for 07.00 hours at the main points determined between 19.00 and 12. As a method, two-way counting is performed in order to calculate the traffic volume for each 15-minute period in the sections determined on the cordon and curtain lines. In order to reveal the distribution of the 24-hour traffic volume during the day, the 24-hour control count will be obtained separately from the points at the Highways 1st Region stations. These control counts provide 3-hour full-day data from 24 points separately in order to eliminate the effect of sectoral differences. In the studies, the vehicles were grouped according to their types for vehicle counting and determined as 11 vehicle types included in the vehicle count sheets.
UPDATE WILL BE MADE
2040 Kocaeli Sustainable Transportation Master Plan and Logistics Master Plan Within the scope of the Transportation Model Update work, road network, public transportation network, stop, line, operation, ticket policy, signal points, phase plans, parking areas (open-closed-storey etc.), population Demographic data such as employment, employment and 2040 target year projection data will also be updated in accordance with the zoning plans.
