Metro Istanbul hosted the representatives of Lagos, Nigeria. Lagos State Administrative Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Lagos Metropolitan Area Public Transport Authority General Manager Abimbola Akinajo and the accompanying delegation received information from Metro Istanbul General Manager Özgür Soy about the rail system project they plan to do in the region.
Metro Istanbul, one of the subsidiaries of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), Turkey's largest urban rail system operator, continues its cooperation negotiations with the cities of different countries. Finally, the company management met with the Baku delegation and hosted the representatives of Lagos, Nigeria at the Headquarters campus in Esenler.
Cooperation committee created
Lagos State Administrative Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Lagos Metropolitan Area Public Transport Authority (LAMATA) General Manager Abimbola Akinajo and the accompanying delegation of 18 came together with Metro Istanbul General Manager Özgür Soy and company senior management to work on the rail system projects they plan to do in the Lagos region. They exchanged information about union opportunities. At the meeting, a committee was formed by discussing cooperation opportunities in order to benefit from the experiences of Metro Istanbul.

Transferring the expertise of Metro Istanbul to the delegation, General Manager Soy informed the Lagos delegation about the areas where they can support the project and said, “As Metro Istanbul, it is a technology with a deep-rooted history of 33 years and experience and knowledge in R&D and consultancy services as well as management. we are company. We are in a position to inform our stakeholders, with whom we cooperate, with an impartial approach, on how to meet their needs without directing them to any supplier.”

Lagos State Administrative Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said, “Just buying trains is not enough to become a world-class rail operator. It is necessary to cooperate with countries and companies that do successful work in the sector in order to do the right train operation. With this understanding, me and my team visited Metro Istanbul in Turkey and had the opportunity to observe the operation methods, processes and working methods on site. We thank Mr. Özgür Soy, General Manager of Metro Istanbul, for accompanying us during our visit and informing us about the company and its work.”
After the meeting, the Nigerian delegation visited the M1 Command and Control Center, the workshop area, and the R&D and Design Center and conducted a field investigation.
