As railwaymen, we continue to support and stand by our young people who shape the future with their ideas. In cooperation with the Presidency of Communications and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, we are implementing the “Story Station” project, which was the idea of Elif Karlıtepe.
The first prototype of the Story Station was created by a student study group, under the guidance of Konya/Seljuk Mehmet Tuza Pakpen Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School teachers, with the idea that the youth's project should be brought to life again. Automat can present not only stories but also different types of texts to its readers.
Thanks to the “Story Station” vending machine designed by university student Elif Karlıtepe in order to develop the habit of reading books and to encourage young people, people will be able to spend their time by reading books.
In the first place, it is possible to read short stories or poems with one click by selecting 1, 3 and 5 minutes reading times from the vending machine. During the development of the prototype, different texts will also be available from the story station.
The owner of the project, Elif Karlıtepe, introduced the Story Station to TCDD General Manager Metin Akbaş and made his first attempt.
The Story Station, which was examined with interest by General Manager Akbaş, took its place at the Presidency Communications Directorate State Incentives Promotion Days.
General Manager Metin Akbaş stated that as an institution, young ideas are always with him and said, “The vending machine that Elif has implemented is a very successful work. Thanks to this vending machine, our citizens will be able to spend their time by reading stories. As an institution, we will always continue to support our youth. I was fortunate enough to try the automaton for the first time. It was a very successful and commendable work. I congratulate Elif for her success.” said.
“STORY STATION” GAVE LIKES
The presentation of the "Story Station" was made at the TCDD stand at the State Incentives Promotion Days, which was prepared for the youth with the slogan "Your Future is Here, The State Is With You" by the Presidency of Communications. “Story Station” attracted great attention by the participants and guests.
Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun personally visited the TCDD stand and listened to the “Story Station” project in detail from Elif Karlıtepe. Expressing that he liked the project very much, Director of Communications Altun did not neglect to try the vending machine, and congratulated Elif Karlıtepe, the owner of the project, for her success.
The “Story Station”, which was closely examined by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Personnel General Manager VN Leyla Akıncı and TCDD Deputy General Manager İsmail Çağlar, awaits its enthusiasts at the State Incentives Promotion Days.
STORY STATION IN BRIEF
As a result of the evaluation made by TCDD, it is planned to be placed on the platforms of BAŞKENTRAY Ankara Suburban Station, Hippodrome Station and Yenişehir Station, which were manufactured from the said vending machines and selected as a pilot in the first stage.
Story vending machines print short texts prepared according to 1, 3 and 5 minute options on thermal papers with a width of 10 cm and an average length of 18 cm, 25 cm and 33 cm according to the duration and give them to the passenger. With these stories, which can be read while traveling or waiting, it is aimed to get our passengers away from the digital world, even for a few minutes, to give them a reading experience.
