Arslan, who examined the ongoing works under the coordination of DHMİ to open Siirt Airport to traffic again, received information from DHMİ General Manager Ocak and other relevant authorities.

"We have done the necessary work within the scope of needs"

Arslan, said in a statement to reporters, to open the airport as soon as possible to start the necessary work is continuing.

Stating that Siirt Airport was an airport that did not have an ILS in the past and therefore medium and large-bodied aircrafts could not land, Arslan said:

“Small-bodied planes could land. However, as both Turkish Airlines (THY) and private airline companies did not have small-body aircraft in their hands, Siirt Airport had to be closed. I would like to express with pleasure that we now know what we are doing and what to do. The runway is 2 thousand meters by 30 meters wide. We do not have any problems with the runway, our planes could land, but there was a need to construct the areas we call 'stop way resa area' at the beginning and end of the runway and to install an ILS device. We did the necessary work within the framework of these needs.

Arslan stated that they realized the installations related to runway approach lights 3 months ago. He said that both sides of the runway had been made banquets and necessary arrangements.

Expressing that the tender for the opening of the runway was made and the contract was signed on February 15, Arslan continued as follows:

“I hope we are doing site delivery next week. As part of this site delivery, the security fence around the airport will be completely renewed. Necessary work will be done on the repair and maintenance of the surrounding roads. In accordance with aviation rules, we had previously deemed suitable as 30 meters at both ends of our runway, but as a result of our studies, we decided that it is more correct to have 90 meters and we will also arrange the areas we call 90 meters stop way resa area at both ends. We will have made it compliant with international rules so that in June, I hope the Siirt runway will be completely renovated and the resa areas will be able to host planes in an enlarged and expanded manner.

Arslan, 24 million pounds of the tender price by reporting, found:

“Of course, 24 million liras is an important figure, but when you consider the people of Siirt and Siirt, the number does not matter, let the halal be nice. As long as we can reach and transport them like everywhere in our country and we have developed and reunited an airport that serves Siirt and Siirt residents in a more modern way. "

Arslan said that the scheduled flights will start from the moment they opened the airport in June and said:

“Especially within the framework of developing technologies, our General Directorate of State Airports Authority, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Turkish Airlines and Pegasus carried out a long-term study on a new study called 'approach procedure design' by using the simulation and also benefiting from international rules and opportunities. Within the framework of this simulation, they created a new approach method design. Depending on him, we will have installed other navigational, expedition and electronic devices including ILS. "

Armstrong, also of an airport when airline service that is much more modern than the previous welcomed to the city by expressing the future, "Because you have the possibility Siirt ready enough from yesterday's flight to fly anywhere in Turkey." said.
