Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Finnish President Sauli Ninistö. Erdogan, who made official contacts in Helsinki, met with Ninistö at the Official Residence of the President of Finland. After shaking hands with Ninistö, whom he greeted in English by saying "Hello, good morning", Erdoğan went on to a tete-a-tete meeting.

Expressing his satisfaction with Prime Minister Erdogan's visit, Finnish President Ninistö also touched upon the Marmaray project. Stating that he had passed over the Marmara Sea in Turkey before, Ninistö said, “The Marmaray Project was good. I passed over the Marmara and now I'm thinking of going under it," he said.

Prime Minister Erdogan also because of the hospitality shown to them while thanking the Ninistö, emphasized the importance of Turkey-Finland relations.

Later, the meeting was closed to the press, Minister for EU Affairs Egemen Bağış, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yıldız, Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, Minister of Forestry and Water Affairs Veysel Eroğlu and Economy Minister Zafer Çağlayan were also present.
