'Glass for Transformation, Life for Nature' in Yıldırım

Yıldırım Municipality fully supports the 'Zero Waste Project' carried out by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and initiated under the auspices of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's wife, Emine Erdoğan. Yıldırım Municipality, which has collected 2019 thousand tons of waste glass from 208 glass bins placed throughout the district since 6, has undertaken a project that will raise awareness among citizens. Within the scope of the 'Glass for Transformation, Life for Nature Project', which was implemented in September, zero waste tables were created in coffee houses, tea houses and cafeterias in the district. While business owners and citizens are informed about zero waste, gifts such as tablecloths, tea, sugar cubes and tea glasses are given to businesses that collect glass waste. Waste glass collected periodically by the Climate Change and Zero Waste Directorate teams is recycled.

90 TONS OF WASTE GLASS WAS TRANSFORMED

Yıldırım Mayor Oktay Yılmaz said that the work continues uninterruptedly with the waste glass bins placed all over the district and the campaigns carried out, and said, “We are carrying out important work in our municipality and in our district with the campaigns we organize in terms of separating waste at the source. Within the scope of the project we implemented with the slogan 'Glass for Transformation, Life for Nature', we distributed 240 tablecloths to 4 businesses and informed our citizens about the project. We will continue our project on our sites in the future. Glass disappears in nature in 700 thousand years. With our project that we implemented in order to leave a more livable city to future generations, we collected and recycled 4 tons of glass waste in 7 months. Thanks to the recycling activities we carry out, we both protect our environment and add value to our economy. "As Yıldırım Municipality, we will continue our work to make Yıldırım a truly environmentally friendly city," he said.
