A Workshop was Held in Istanbul within the Scope of 'Şehrengiz' Project

A workshop was organized in Istanbul by the Ministry of National Education within the scope of the "Şehrengiz" project, which aims to help students understand the human-city relationship and get to know the cities that are the cradle of Turkish culture and civilization.

The Ministry of National Education started preparatory work to introduce students to the human-city relationship with the national, spiritual, moral, human and cultural values ​​that make up Turkish culture and civilization. In this context, a workshop was held with the participation of Deputy Minister Nazif Yılmaz for the Şehrengiz Project, which was designed to raise responsible individuals sensitive to Turkey and its region.

In the workshop, what activities could be done for students were evaluated, based on the principle of 'If you do not know different societies and civilizations, you cannot build your own city correctly'.

In the workshop held in the historical conference hall of Cağaloğlu Hüsamettin Yivlik Traditional Turkish Arts Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, students were given the opportunity to get to know the cities that stand out in terms of Turkish-Islamic history, especially the cities they live in, and their opportunities and features, in order to understand the relationship between people, cities, culture and civilization. The activities to be carried out to learn and discover the relationship between space and time, to know and protect the intangible and concrete cultural heritage of the cities were discussed.

Within the scope of the Şehrengiz project, what can be done by doing and living, being at peace with its history and values; What steps can be taken to raise culturally curious and sensitive students; It was discussed with architects, survey engineers, educators and academicians who are experts in their fields.

In the workshop, with the theme of "From local to national, from national to the whole world", the procedures and principles regarding the activities to be carried out in order to introduce the cities they live in, the cities of our country and the cities of our heartland to the students studying in primary and secondary education institutions and thus to raise awareness were discussed.

In order to raise awareness among the students in the Şehrengiz project workshop, 'A city that does not appeal to people's sense organs cannot add meaning to people', 'The language of cities is the mother tongue', 'The elements that form the identity of cities', 'The traffic language of cities also introduces that city', 'Şehrengiz is the cultural archeology of the city'. and 'The founding cities of our civilization' were discussed.
