30 Bags of Waste Collected from Sardala Bay in Kocaeli

Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality continues its cleaning works on Kocaeli beaches in line with the "European Environment Agency Marine Litter Monitoring Program".

Beach cleaning was carried out in Sardala Bay in Kandıra district, within the scope of the activities that are carried out seasonally 4 times a year on a designated beach and the results of which are reported to the European Environment Agency. 30 garbage bags full of waste were collected from many types of waste, such as plastic, metal and glass, which do not decompose in nature for centuries.

The Metropolitan Municipality, Kandıra District Governorate, public institutions and organizations, non-governmental organizations, Provincial Directorate of Tourism, Kandıra Municipality, Kandıra District Directorate of Agriculture officials and AKV Bağırganlı Secondary School students attended the event held within the scope of the European Environment Agency Marine Litter Monitoring Project and Tourism Week.

At the event organized to raise awareness, 30 garbage bags full of waste from many types of waste such as plastic, metal and glass, which do not degrade in nature for centuries, were collected and categorized.

MARINE LITTLE MONITORING PROGRAM

The European Environment Agency carries out marine litter monitoring programs in many countries in order to combat the marine litter problem and raise awareness on this issue. In this context, beach cleaning work is carried out in a 100-meter area of ​​a beach determined according to the application criteria, and by scanning the area in a certain period of time, the collected waste is separated according to its types and recorded.
