DEU Entrusted to Children on April 23

The Dokuz Eylül University (DEU) Board of Directors Meeting, which was held extraordinarily on the occasion of the 104th anniversary of the opening of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) and April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day, was attended by the students studying at DEU's 75th Year Educational Institutions. Students from grades, primary and secondary schools participated. The students, who attended the meeting with their teachers and school administrators, took the place of the DEU Rector, Senior Management and deans; They presented their wishes for a happy and safe world, accompanied by messages of peace, to the agenda of the board of directors. The students, whose suggestions were accepted unanimously, celebrated April 23 with enthusiasm.

DEU 75th Year Educational Institutions 7th grade student Ali Topuzkanamış, in his speech about the meaning and importance of the day at the meeting, emphasized that the 104th anniversary of the opening of the Turkish Grand National Assembly was celebrated with the enthusiasm and excitement of the first day. Topuzkanamış said, “104 years ago today, the Turkish Grand National Assembly was opened, which is the most important step in the history of our country's democracy and the Republic. Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and the founding members of our Republic have made great efforts to build a democratic country and state since that date. We remember them all with respect and gratitude. April 23 is not only for our country; May it be a means of brotherhood and peace for all the children of the world. We want a world where the most basic rights such as education, security and health are provided for all children of the world and they are happy. "As Dokuz Eylül University, we have made every effort in this regard, and we will continue to contribute to the society together with our valuable professors, students and all our staff," he said.

"A SPECIAL DAY"

DEU Deputy Rector and Higher Education Council (YÖK) member Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak greeted the children attending the meeting one by one and shared their joy of the holiday. Ak, who hosted the little students in his office beforehand, emphasized that April 23 is a special day that sets an example for the nations of the world. Ak noted the following in his speech: “April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day, gifted to all the children of the world by the founder of our Republic, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, is the only day in the world that is made special for children in this field. Today, with the enthusiasm of April 23, we came together with our children who will guide our country in the future. Our children, who chaired our Board of Directors meeting, showed an exemplary stance for everyone from 7 to 70 with their kind wishes. Our children, who learn how to use information and technology in the best way at school, continue to improve themselves in every field, from science to art, from music to sports. I kiss the eyes of our children who presided over and attended our meeting today, and congratulate them on their holiday with my sincerest wishes; I would like to thank our educators who enable us to look to the future with confidence with the generations they raise.”

THEY CUT A CAKE

After attending the Board of Directors Meeting, students visited the April 23 Painting Exhibition, consisting of works made by earthquake-affected children studying in container education classes established by DEU in Malatya, in the Rectorate Foyer Area of ​​Dokuz Eylül University. Here, the students came together with the DEU Senior Management and deans who transferred their positions and ate the holiday cake specially cut for April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day. In memory of the day, students also took a photo with DEU Senior Management, deans and school administration in front of the DEU Rectorate building.

THEY MADE A DIFFERENCE

DEU 75th Year Educational Institutions students made a strong impression with their recent achievements in different branches of culture, arts and sports throughout Turkey. In this context, students came first in the Turkish Swimming Federation Winter Cup Jumping Championship Young Girls Category 5 Meter Tower Jumping, third in the Ministry of Youth and Sports School Sports Fencing Competitions in Izmir, and fourth in the Balıkesir Youth and Sports Provincial Directorate Gymnastics Competition. District first place in the Buca District Directorate of National Education 12 March Recitation of Our National Anthem by Memorization Competition, Buca first place in the Buca District Directorate of National Education painting competition themed "The Republic is 100 Years Old", First Lego League Competition Master Developers Award, Change The World Roma (English Debate Competition). ) Adding achievements such as the 2024 Delegates Award to their list of pride, DEU 75th Year Educational Institutions students made a difference with their performances.
