Making a statement before the Extraordinary General Assembly, Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Architect Ferdi Zeyrek expressed that he was very happy to fulfill the promises he made during the election process.

2 TONS OF WATER 1 LIRA, 30 PERCENT DISCOUNT ON OTHER LEVELS

In his speech, President Ferdi Zeyrek said, “We are together today for the Extraordinary Meeting of our MASKİ General Assembly. As you all know, purchasing power is decreasing day by day in our country. Our retirees are struggling to survive below the hunger line. Our young people are trying to find a job, most of them want to go abroad. While the situation in our country is like this, we have stated many times that our citizens in our city use the most expensive water in Turkey. The issue that my dear fellow countrymen conveyed to me the most during the election process was the cost of water. When the people of Manisa elected us for this position in the March 31 Local Elections, we promised that we would offer a 2 TL discount for the first 1 tons of water, a 30 percent discount for the following levels and that we would eliminate the requirement for card meters. Thanks to our fellow citizens, they elected us to this position with great support. I thank all of them once again. "Today, I am happy to fulfill our promise of 2 TL for the first 1 tons of water, which will make a significant contribution to our people's family economy," he said.

CARD METER REQUIREMENT HAS BEEN REMOVED

Mayor Zeyrek, who announced that a regulation has been made regarding card meters, said, “We are putting an end to the compulsory card meter application, which has become an imposition and an ordeal for our citizens, with the votes of you, our esteemed council members. With the work we have done, we will provide the first 2 tons of water, which has the right of human use in residences and derivatives throughout our province, for 1 TL. In the next stages, as I promised, we will deliver our water to our people at a 30 percent discount. With the decision to be taken by our Board, we will start to implement our new price tariff throughout Manisa province as of May 1, 2024. With the regulation we made regarding the card meter; I hope that with the decision we will take at our General Assembly soon, we will put an end to the obligation of card meters. We also stated that we would not maintain a management approach that forces a practice that our people do not want. "People of Manisa will now have the freedom to make their own decisions about water meters," he said.

MAYOR ZEYREK EXPLAINED THE PROCESS OF SWITCHING FROM CARD METER TO MECHANICAL METER

Providing information about the regulation that removes the obligation of card meters, Mayor Zeyrek said, “Current card meter users will now be able to switch to mechanical meters if they request. Regarding the process, first of all, our citizens' applications will be received through personal petitions to MASKİ General Directorate and MASKİ District Chiefs in all our districts, mechanical meters will be supplied according to the requests, and then the conversion process will be completed. "I would like to express that we made another reduction by reducing the guarantee costs from 80 cubic meters to 45 cubic meters," he said.

WATER FEE WILL NOT BE CHARGED FROM CEMEVIS

In the last part of his speech, Mayor Zeyrek said, “Municipalism is responsible for meeting the needs of the people and citizens without discrimination. This is the essence of our social municipalism. In this beautiful city, we will support every citizen with the understanding of providing equal service to all segments of society without any discrimination. In this sense, we will not charge water usage fees from our Cem houses, which are places of worship for our Alevi citizens, as in our mosques and cemeteries. Our people told us about their problems that have been going on for years, and we promised to solve them. Today, I am very happy to have taken the first steps towards solving the problems of all my fellow citizens who deem us worthy of this duty. "I hope that the decisions to be taken at the MASKI Extraordinary General Assembly will bring good things to our city and our nation," he said. Following Mayor Zeyrek's speech, the agenda item containing the 2024 Fee Tariff and Details and the EKS and Mechanical Meter usage rules was put to vote. The agenda item was unanimously referred to the Law and Tariffs and Planning and Budget commissions. The general assembly took a short break to discuss the relevant agenda item in the commission. At the Second Session of MASKİ Extraordinary General Assembly, the agenda item referred to the Law and Tariffs and Planning and Budget commission was unanimously passed by the Parliament. Mayor Zeyrek fulfilled the promises he made during the election process and made the people of Manisa smile.
