What is the Iron Dome Air Defense System?

Iron Dome Air Defense System: Iron Dome is a portable air defense system developed by Israel's Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and Israel Aerospace Industries. This system is designed to neutralize short-range rocket and artillery attacks against Israeli living centers.

Iron Dome, which entered service in 2011, was able to successfully destroy 10 out of every 8 missiles launched in the air. This system detects the launched missile, locks onto the target and destroys it in the air. It is still actively used today.

The Iron Dome effectively protects against short-range rockets and 70 mm artillery shells with a range of 155 kilometers. The system can operate day and night in adverse weather conditions and has the ability to respond to multiple threats simultaneously.
