Taste Feast at Izmir MEB Gastronomy Festival

The Gastronomy Festival and Cooking Competition, organized by the General Directorate of Vocational and Technical Education of the Ministry of National Education and carried out by the Izmir Provincial Directorate of National Education, was held at Nevvar Salih İşgören Education Campus-5 Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School.

The event where the rich flavors of Turkish cuisine are introduced; Izmir Provincial Director of National Education Dr. Ömer Yahşi, Head of Education Inspectors Koray Aykurt, Deputy Provincial Director of National Education İbrahim Doğru, Karşıyaka District Director of National Education Kadir Kadıoğlu, Konak District Director of National Education Serdal Şimşek, education administrators, teachers and students attended.

407 IN TURKEY AND 33 TEAMS COMPETED IN IZMIR

The gastronomy festival and cooking competition organized in 7 regions in Turkey by the General Directorate of Vocational and Technical Education of the Ministry of National Education; 25 vocational and technical Anatolian high schools and vocational training centers from Izmir and 8 from Manisa participated. 407 teams and 1221 students from across Turkey competed in the competition, which aimed to preserve the heritage of Turkish cuisine and demonstrate mastery in culinary arts.

At the festival, young chefs showed off their skills in the kitchen and treated the participants to a feast of taste with the delicious dishes they prepared.

In the evaluation made by the jury at the end of the sweet competition that lasted all day; The first place went to Yusuf Sinan Kuşçu, Zehra Yıldızoğlu and Yağmur Çınar from Konak Cumhuriyet Nevvar Salih İşgören Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, and the second place went to Büşra Ergen, Ragıp Şahin and Berivan Yıldız from Bornova Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School. The third prize was awarded to Eylül Düşden, Cüneyt Sarıkurt and Bilal Aktar from Konak Beştepeler Multi-Program Anatolian High School. The winners of the competition were given their awards by Izmir Provincial Director of National Education Dr. It was given by Ömer Yahşi.

With its thousands of years of history, Turkish cuisine is a journey of taste extending from the fertile lands of Central Asia to the geography of Anatolia. "Such competitions offer our children studying in the field of food and beverage services in our vocational high schools the opportunity to show their mastery in culinary arts and to pass on the rich history of Turkish cuisine to future generations."
