Mehmet Özcan, who received his certificate of election from the District Election Board for the Keşan Municipality, was joined by his wife Şengül Özcan, CHP Edirne Deputy Ediz Ün, CHP Edirne Provincial Chairman Samet Kahraman, CHP Keşan District Chairman Anıl Çakır, Yenimuhacir Mayor Tamer Kıral, Edirne Municipality former Mayor. Mayor Recep Gürkan was accompanied by members of the municipal council.
Speaking at the memorandum ceremony, CHP Keşan District Chairman Anıl Çakır stated that 5 years have not been easy and thanked those who contributed to the local election success. Çakır stated that they will buy Beğendik after 5 years and said, "We will make 5 out of 3 after 3 years."
CHP Edirne Deputy Ediz Ün stated that they have made CHP the first party since 1977 and said, “From now on, there is one more trust left. And that is power. We will take back that trust in 2028. "I would like to express my respect and gratitude to all of you for making us experience this pride and for making us experience this pride as a member of parliament on the 100th anniversary of the CHP and the Republic," he said.
At the ceremony, former Edirne Mayor Recep Gürkan, Edirne Provincial Mayor Samet Kahraman, Yenimuhacir Mayor Tamer Kıral also made a speech and said to the party members, women and young people who were with them in the victory, "Everything will be better from now on!" They thanked me by saying.
After the speeches, they went to the Atatürk Monument in Cumhuriyet Square, a moment of silence was observed and the party wreath was presented after the reading of the National Anthem. After the wreath ceremony, a large crowd went to Keşan Municipality for the handover ceremony, accompanied by anthems and slogans.
Mayor Özcan was welcomed with torches and flowers by the municipality staff at the entrance of Keşan Municipality Multi-Purpose Marketplace Complex.

Özcan, who greeted the staff and citizens who welcomed him, went to the Keşan Mayor's office for the handover. Mehmet Özcan and his entourage were welcomed with flowers by Helvacıoğlu and the council members. At the program held in the office room, Özcan presented Helvacıoğlu with a souvenir plate for his services to Keşan.
Speaking in the program, Mustafa Helvacıoğlu stated that he had the chance to serve as the Mayor of Keşan between 2019-2024 and said, “Today, I am handing over the duty to Mayor Mehmet. I wish you good luck. “I wish them continued success,” he said. After the speeches, Özcan bid farewell to Helvacıoğlu.
ÖZCAN ADDRESSED THE STAFF AND THE PUBLIC
Later, Mehmet Özcan, who went on the stage set up at the Keşan Municipality Multi-Purpose Marketplace Complex to address the staff and citizens waiting for him, greeted everyone and said:
“People should use opportunities wisely. What I abandoned with my own hand, I took back with your hand. I would like to thank my brother Mustafa for his work. Now we will do much bigger things. This election did not end only with the CHP's victory in Keşan. The title of the first party we received throughout Türkiye is very meaningful to us. Because this government was not aware of how oppressed the nation was by price increases and increases. They looked from above and began to see the people as creatures that knew nothing, but God, the great stone, appeared before them. And a huge rock of the Republican People's Party... From now on, we will do our job properly as a municipality and do our part as citizens. Türkiye has lost a lot for 22 years, especially in the last 8 years. In order for these to come back, governments that trust their people and are not afraid of their people are needed. We will try to be worthy of you. We will be held accountable for everything we do. We have had nothing to do with lies for 15 years, rest assured that we will not do so again. We won, we will do better and better. Our democracy will be better. Now we need to get to work immediately. Before we even arrived, our electricity started to be cut off. This is the truth. We don't know what to get. Now, I ask for your permission and let's start our work together with our council members by saying 'Bismillahirrahmanirrahim'."
President Özcan then accepted the congratulations at the Presidential Office and officially started his duty.
