Light Rail System is Coming to Trabzon! To be completed in 2028!

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, in his statement in his hometown Trabzon, where he went for Eid al-Fitr, stated that as a result of the joint decision taken with the Ministry of Internal Affairs in order to prevent the congestion that will occur after the Eid holiday, heavy vehicles will not be on the traffic on certain routes on Sunday. Stating that they had a problem-free and peaceful holiday in all modes of transportation, Uraloğlu also gave information about the Trabzon light rail system project.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu met with his fellow citizens in Trabzon on the occasion of Ramadan Feast.

Minister Uraloğlu first visited his father's house and celebrated with his father and family, and then attended the celebration program held in Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality. Minister Uraloğlu celebrated with the provincial protocol, municipal employees and citizens, and then paid a congratulatory visit to Ahmet Metin Genç, who was elected as the Mayor of Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality in the 31 March Local Government Elections.

The program was attended by Trabzon Governor Aziz Yıldırım, AK Party Trabzon Deputy TBMM Public Works, Reconstruction, Transport and Tourism Commission Chairman Adil Karaismailoğlu, AK Party Trabzon Deputy Yılmaz Büyükaydın, Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç, Ortahisar Mayor Ahmet Kaya, district mayors, political Representatives of parties, municipal employees and citizens attended.

Speaking at the holiday program, Minister Uraloğlu made statements about the transportation measures taken for the holiday as the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. Uraloğlu said, “I congratulate all our citizens and our nation on Ramadan Feast. We are in Trabzon today, on the occasion of the holiday organized by our Metropolitan Municipality. First of all, we celebrated the holiday in our Metropolitan Municipality, and now we will go to the holiday celebration ceremony organized by our Provincial Directorate together. We are experiencing a holiday that we spend in peace throughout the country. As the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, we closely follow all transportation modes such as airlines, highways and railways. Thank God, we do not have any major problems. “We spend the holiday in peace throughout our country.” said.

“Heavy Vehicles Will Not Enter Traffic on Certain Routes on Sunday”

Emphasizing that it is very important for drivers to comply with traffic rules when returning from the holiday, Minister Uraloğlu stated that traffic on the roads will intensify after the holiday. Uraloğlu underlined that in order to prevent this concentration, they worked in coordination with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and made a decision to prevent heavy vehicles from entering traffic on certain routes on Sunday. Stating that the traffic congestion will decrease a little with this decision, Uraloğlu said, “We definitely want to leave on time, without rushing on the way back, and hopefully reach our destination by following the rules. We have taken precautions in all our 81 provinces. We will have certain events and visits in Trabzon during the holiday. We are in the days when we experience the joy of Eid at the end of Ramadan. 2028 Good News for Trabzon Light Rail System Project

In response to the question about the Trabzon Light Rail System Project, Minister Uraloğlu said, “We will start the project work of the Trabzon light rail system project this year. "We will complete the project work next year and put it out to tender, and hopefully we plan to bring the light rail system to Trabzon by 2028," he said.
