'Historical Posters in Istanbul as far as the eye can see!

Among the more than 100 works in Meşher's "Istanbul as Far as the Eye Can See" exhibition, there are also posters used to promote sea and railway travel in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The posters in the exhibition Istanbul as Far as the Eye Can See: Landscapes from Five Centuries, which continues in Meşher and presents sections of Istanbul from the 15th century to the first quarter of the 20th century, attract the attention of visitors with their details.

The producers of the works in the exhibition, which consists of various rare works from the Ömer Koç Collection, vary from ship captains to travelers, from soldiers to ambassadors, from writers, painters and photographers to architects and city planners, and the majority are Westerners. Western visitors, who mostly reached Istanbul, a center of attraction that has been wanted to visit and see throughout the ages, by sea, gained a faster transportation opportunity to the city with the developing railways after steamships.

The posters, which start with sea travel and gradually cover railway journeys, are exhibited in niches that are architectural features of the Meşher building. These posters, which establish a dialogue with the works prepared by travelers in the exhibition, attract attention with the details they present from daily life as well as the views of Istanbul. Posters conveying the appeal of traveling to Istanbul also stand out as original promotional materials for the tourism industry.
