Hıdırlık Tower, the Pearl of the Cliffs, Will Shine Again

Feverish work continues on the 'Hıdırlık Tower Surroundings Archaeological Excavation and Observation Terrace Project' carried out by Antalya Metropolitan Municipality. While technical work progresses in the project that will bring together history and landscape, new archaeological findings are also being unearthed.

As a result of the archaeological excavations initiated by the Metropolitan Municipality in 2020, in line with the decision of the Preservation Board, in order to turn the Hıdırlık Tower, one of Antalya's cultural heritage and historical buildings, into a cultural and tourist attraction center, ancient ruins and structures were unearthed in the region. Work continues on the 'Hıdırlık Tower Surroundings Archaeological Excavation and Observation Terrace Project', which was started by Antalya Metropolitan Municipality in order to present the works to visitors with a Mediterranean view.

HISTORICAL TOWER AND ITS SURROUNDINGS ARE BEING RENEWED

Restoration and conservation works are carried out in the area by the Metropolitan Municipality Department of Technical Affairs. The steel fabrication installations of the carrier columns in the wooden and glass floor covering infrastructure of the area in the southern part of the tower have been completed. The installation of glass surfaces on which ancient ruins can be viewed has also been largely completed. Steel fabrication assembly of the load-bearing columns continues on the north side of the tower. In order not to affect the silhouette of the cliffs, the installation of transparent glass railings surrounding the area has started within the scope of the project. In addition, plant cleaning and exterior wall grouting work is also carried out in the historical Hıdırlık Tower.

THE COLUMNED STRUCTURE HAS BEEN REVEALED

Within the scope of the project carried out under the supervision of Antalya Museum Directorate and KUDEB, conservation works of historical ruins continue, and archaeological excavations continue meticulously. Finally, a structure with columns was unearthed in the southern part of the tower, which will shed light on history. In addition, conservation work is being carried out by expert archaeologists on the patterned floor mosaics unearthed in the southern part of the tower.
