This year, IMM continues its Gezi Istanbul project, which brings together Istanbul's historical and cultural heritage sites with young people. With the project, whose route and content have been enriched, trips will be organized in 7 different themes this year. Young people between the ages of 18 and 29 can participate in the travel programs, which attracted great attention last year. Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) continues to introduce young people from Istanbul to the historical and cultural areas of the city this year. It was first launched in 2022 by the IMM Youth and Sports Directorate under the name Adım Adım Historical Peninsula; The project, which spread throughout the city as Gezi Istanbul last year, will continue this year due to the intense interest from young people. Within the scope of Gezi Istanbul, the ancient historical and cultural heritage sites of Istanbul will be introduced to young people of Istanbul with thematic trips to be held throughout the year. The trips, which will be carried out with the motto "Travel with someone who knows", will be guided by academics and experts in their fields.

TRIPS WILL BE IN 7 DIFFERENT CATEGORIES

Within the scope of the project, which will continue from the first week of May until the end of the year; Cultural history tours, architectural history tours, monographic district tours, archaeological site tours, museum tours and nature tours will be organized. In addition to these categories, gastronomy trips will also be organized for the first time this year.

EVERY TRIP OFFERS AN UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE

Each category will have its own themes and routes. Themes such as Atatürk's memories of Beyoğlu, the charms of Istanbul, the squares that witnessed historical events, and the liberation of Istanbul with its places and events will be included in the cultural history tours.

In the category of architectural history, Sinan buildings; sultan complexes, Istanbul's historical waterways, arches and dams, Grand Bazaar; inns, baths, traps; underground Istanbul; cisterns, cellars, corridors; There will be many travel themes such as journey to the heart of empires.

NEW ROUTES ARE ADDED THIS YEAR

Archaeological Museums, Basilica Cistern, Topkapı Palace, Dolmabahçe Palace and Harbiye Military Museum will be waiting for the young people participating in the project during their museum visits. In the archaeological field trips category of the project, this year the works carried out in the Bukoleon Palace, Polyeuktos Palace and Haydarpaşa archaeological excavation areas and the finds found so far will be introduced.

STREET FASTES OF ISTANBUL WILL BE DISCOVERED IN THE GASTRONOMY CATEGORY

In the nature trips category, there will be Riva birdwatching trips and trips themed to the mysterious world of mushrooms. In the gastronomy category, which was included in the project for the first time this year, young people will discover Istanbul's street delicacies, cultural layers of Istanbul cuisine, famous tradesman restaurants and famous food recipes.

APPLICATIONS STARTED

Young people who have a Museum Card between the ages of 18 and 29, who reside in Istanbul or come to Istanbul from outside the city for education, will be able to register for the Gezi Istanbul project.
