Erdoğan's First Official Visit to Iraq in 13 Years

President Erdoğan started his foreign visits after the local elections.

President Erdoğan, who departed for Iraq by plane from Atatürk Airport at 09.15, was bid farewell by Istanbul Governor Davut Gül and other relevant officials at the airport.

According to the news reported by TRT Haber, he will first meet with Iraqi President Abdüllatif Rashid during his official visit to Baghdad. He will then meet with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shiya al-Sudani.

The most important agenda items of the visit; These will include the fight against terrorism, the use of water resources and the flow of natural gas and oil to Turkey.

Turkey is planned to establish a joint operations center with Iraq against terrorism. It is anticipated that this center will also be on the agenda during President Erdoğan's visit.

President Erdoğan will also go to Erbil after his official visit in Baghdad. A Business Forum will also be held within the scope of Erdoğan's visit to Iraq. Steps to increase the trade volume between Türkiye and Iraq are also expected to be discussed.
