Battery Operated Tram Era Begins in Taksim and Istiklal!

The nostalgic tram, one of the symbols of Taksim and Istiklal Street, is being replaced by a battery-powered tram powered by electric energy. The new generation trams, which are environmentally friendly, economical and have high passenger capacity, will preserve the historical texture with their interior and exterior design. Trams with the same design as the current vehicle will start operating after test drives.

THE SAME INSIDE AND OUT WITH THE NOSTAGIC TRAM

While preserving the existing structure, IETT has accelerated its work on battery-powered trams powered by electrical energy in order to carry nostalgic trams into the future. The 4 nostalgic trams currently in service could travel with the energy they received from overhead electrical cables. The newly designed vehicles will have the same design as the trams identified with the city and will maintain their existing texture.

150 KM WITH ONE CHARGING

Battery-powered tram works powered by electricity will be able to travel 150 kilometers on a single charge. Vehicles with a capacity of 60 passengers will provide high level passenger safety with their camera mirror system. It will have a design that will not allow passengers to travel dangerously by holding on from the outside.

The first battery-powered tram produced started testing on Istiklal Street. After the completion of the test runs, the new battery-powered tram will start operating on Istiklal Street. Over time, all vehicles will become battery-powered. The overhead power line on the street will be canceled and visual pollution will be eliminated.
