Kocaeli Dilovası Mayor Ömeroğlu: April 23, 1920, when national sovereignty was accepted with the opening of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, is the day when it was declared to the whole world that no power above the will of the nation would be recognized. By dedicating this important day to all the children of the world, the Turkish Grand National Assembly, with the importance it attaches to children, the guarantee of the future, has assigned important responsibilities to children, the common treasure of humanity.
Better days and a more prosperous country await our children, who are the guarantee of our future. With these thoughts, I sincerely congratulate the 104th anniversary of the opening of the Turkish Grand National Assembly and the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day of the world's children, who add meaning to this day with their loving hearts and smiling faces."
