13 Detained in Antalya Cable Car Accident!

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç announced that a detention order was issued for 13 suspects as a result of the investigation carried out within the scope of the cable car accident investigation that occurred in Antalya's Konyaaltı district.

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç announced that a detention order was issued for 1 suspects regarding the incident in which 17 citizen died and 13 citizens were injured as a result of which the cable car pole on the Sarısu-Tünektepe cable car line operating in Antalya's Konyaaltı district broke and one of the cabins fell.

Minister Tunç stated that within the scope of the investigation, a committee consisting of 1 occupational health and safety experts, 1 machinery experts and 2 electrical expert, under the coordination of 2 Deputy Chief Public Prosecutor and 1 Public Prosecutor, carried out a crime scene investigation and discovery work to determine the cause of the incident and those responsible.

Announcing the preliminary report regarding the cause of the cable car accident, Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç said, "It is considered that the carrier pole was broken at the connection point due to the insufficiency/corrosion of the fasteners at the connection points of the cable car's carrier poles and the damaged pulley systems on the carrier poles." said.

Minister Tunç said the following about the detention decision:

"It was determined that the relevant enterprise did not have an emergency action and evacuation plan, and a detention order was issued for 13 suspects, including the company operating the cable car line in question and the employees and employees of the company responsible for the maintenance and repair of the cable car line."
